2024 IAM Scholarship Competition Opens for Applications on October 1st, 2023
The 2024 IAM Scholarship Competition will open on October 1, 2023, accepting applications and allowing entrants to apply online. The competition is open to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada.
Application packets must be submitted online no later than February 2, 2024.

Out of 300 applicants in 2023, the IAM awarded 16 scholarships valued at $64,000 to members and their children. The IAM also has a vocational-technical two-year scholarship for members and their children.
The IAM Scholarship Fund, used exclusively to make these awards possible, was established by the 1960 IAM Grand Lodge Convention delegates.

Since 1991, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $5.4 million to students of union families. Over 3,800 union families have benefited from our commitment to higher education.
Award amounts: $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2024. Students may re-apply each year.
Award date: May 31, 2024. During the first week of June 2024 award recipients will be notified by postal mail, and all applicants will be sent email notification.
Eligibility criteria:
- Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) are eligible. Grandchildren are not eligible unless a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations). At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant’s spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2024.
- Members of participating unions from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada are eligible.
- The applicant must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college, university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued. Awards must be used for the 2024 – 2025 school year.
- Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.
This program is offered through the Union Plus Education Foundation, which is sponsored by Union Privilege.
The Union Plus Education Foundation is funded in part by donations from Capital One N.A., the provider of the Union Plus Credit Card and First National Bank of Omaha, the provider of the Union Plus Personal Loan (You do NOT need to be a Union Plus Credit Card or Union Plus Personal Loan holder to apply for this scholarship.)

2023 IAM Scholarship Competition
This scholarship competition is open each year to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada under procedures and rules of eligibility explained in this Announcement. The IAM Scholarship Fund, which is used exclusively to make possible these awards, was established by the delegates of the 1960 IAM Grand Lodge Convention.
The Scholarship Competition
Scholarships to make possible the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree or a two-year vocational/technical certification are determined in a competition among eligible applicants that is judged by a special Selection Committee.
Amount of the Awards
Awards to members are $2,000 per academic year. They are granted for a specific period from one to four years to enable the member to earn a Bachelor’s degree or a two-year vocational/technical certification.
Awards to Children of Members are:
- College – $1,000 per academic year. All awards are renewed each year until a Bachelor’s degree is obtained up to a maximum of four years.
- Vocational/Technical School – $2,000 per year until certification is reached up to a maximum of two years
The 2023 IAM Scholarship Competition is accepting applications. The competition is open to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada. The Application packet must be received no later than February 10, 2023.

2021 Scholarships …..
The 2021 employee children’s scholarship is now open.
Since 2012, the Harley-Davidson Foundation has provided over $750,000 in scholarships to our employee’s children through the Employee Children’s Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is just one way the Foundation furthers the company’s commitment to supporting continued education in our communities.
If you have a child who is currently a senior in high school and will go to college for an undergraduate degree, they may be eligible to receive one of seven scholarships that are offered to children of full-time and part-time U.S. HDMC, HDDS and HDFS employees. The 2021 scholarship application process is now open.
Scholarship America must receive completed applications by 4pm on Friday, May7, 2021 to be considered. All applications must be submitted electronically.

H-D Employees with college-aged children may apply for Employee Children’s College Scholarships. Online applications are due Friday, March 13
Since 2012, the Harley-Davidson Foundation has provided over $550,000 in scholarships to our employees’ children. If you have a child going to college for an undergraduate degree, H-D may be able to help financially through the Employee Children’s College Scholarship Program. The Harley-Davidson Foundation is offering seven scholarships to children of full-time and part-time U.S. HDMC, HDDS and HDFS employees. The Foundation aims to help employees’ children while furthering the company’s commitment to the community.
Scholarship America will be accepting and handling all applications. Click here to access the online application form and scholarship guidelines. Scholarship America must receive completed applications by March 13, 2020.

Up to seven (7) awards will be granted.
- Five (5) awards of $3,000 each will be selected from the pool of qualified applicants with primary consideration given to those who demonstrate the highest merit.
- Two (2) awards of $2,000 each will be selected from the next highest qualified applicants who also demonstrate financial need.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

- Be a dependent* child of a regular full-time or part-time Harley-Davidson employee** as of January 1, 2017 and taxpayer in the United States.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
**Harley-Davidson employees are defined as employees of:
– Harley-Davidson Motor Company Group, LLC and its subsidiaries
– Harley-Davidson Dealer Systems, Inc.
– Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc. and its subsidiaries
- Be high school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university.
and - Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Children of employees in H-D Career Band S70 (or HDFS ELT) and above or children of Enterforce Flexibles/H-D Casuals employees are ineligible to participate in the Program.
